“Please grant this one benediction” – Verse quoted by Indradyumna Swami

“Please grant this one benediction” – Verse quoted by Indradyumna Swami

“Dearest Krishna!! Please grant this one benediction. To those who reside in the profoundly sweet land of Vrindavan, and who for a long time yearn with a steady heart to someday attain You, please, O master of Gokula, appear before their eyes as their youthful friend!”

Render service to these three – Verse quoted by Indradyumna Swami

Render service to these three – Verse quoted by Indradyumna Swami

“The dust of the feet of a devotee, the water that has washed the feet of a devotee, and the remnants of food left by a devotee are three very powerful substances. By rendering service to these three, one attains the supreme goal of ecstatic love for Krsna. In all the revealed scriptures this is loudly declared again and again.”

[ Sri Caitanya Caritamrta, Antya-lila 16. 60 ]

Maha-maha-prasadam – Verse quoted by Indradyumna Swami

“The remnants of food offered to Lord Krsna are called maha-prasadam. After this same maha-prasadam has been taken by a devotee, the remnants are elevated to maha-maha-prasadam.”

“You all came running” – Anecdote recounted by Indradyumna Swami

“You all came running” – Anecdote recounted by Indradyumna Swami

In appreciation of the service rendered by his disciples, Srila Prabhupada once said that his guru maharaja, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, had sent them to help him in his preaching mission.

One disciple spoke up and said, “But Srila Prabhupada how could that be? We were so sinful before we met you.”

Srila Prabhupada replied, “That is superficial. As soon as you heard the chanting of Hare Krsna you all came running!”

Russia

Rishiya, the land of the rishis – Anecdote by Indradyumna Swami

Rishiya, the land of the rishis – Anecdote by Indradyumna Swami

“Srila Prabhupada once told Govinda dasi that formerly in Vedic times the land of Russia was known as ‘Rishiya’—the land of the rishis. The area of Russia was populated by many yogis and sadhus who went to the mountains of the Himalayas and beyond to perform penances and austerities in the frozen terrain, far from the hubbub of worldly life. Srila Prabhupada told Govinda dasi that the descendants of those rishis who live in Russia now have the sukriti to easily take to Krishna consciousness. Such an amazing statement was never more evident than at the recent Russian Yatra festival where over 5000 Russian devotees come together for a week of chanting, dancing, Krsna katha and prasadam. How pleased Srila Prabhupada must be!”

Your nails protect me – Verse Quoted by Indradyumna Swami

Your nails protect me – Verse Quoted by Indradyumna Swami

“O Lord Nrsimha, Who are omnipresent, may Your nails protect me and others at all times. Just as a lion attacks formidable elephant groups and splits apart their heads with its nails and the vajrayudha (Indra’s defense weapon) destroys the highest mountains, in a similar way the asuras who are like strong exhilarating elephants, are easily killed by Your nails, which are powerful and precious.”

The Utkala Poet Speaks – Quoted by Indradyumna Swami

“I offer my obeisances unto the shoes of those devotees who are expert in extricating those sunk in the rotten muck in the bottom of the ocean of material existence, and who become blissful by hearing the pair of syllables, ‘Krsna’, impelled to dance with all their hairs bristling.”

Hear the Holy Name distinctly – Quoted by Indradyumna Swami

Hear the Holy Name distinctly – Quoted by Indradyumna Swami

“The devotee should make it a regular practice to spend a little time alone in a quiet place and concentrate deeply on the holy name. He should utter and hear the name distinctly. It is impossible for the jiva to singlehandedly avoid and overcome the illusion of distraction. By the mercy of the Lord, however, this is accomplished with ease.”

Prayer at the lotus feet of Srila Prabhupada – Written by Indradyumna Swami

Prayer at the lotus feet of Srila Prabhupada – Written by Indradyumna Swami

Srila Prabhupada, may I always follow you wherever you go within these 3 worlds to spread the mission of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu!

Before leaving Moscow yesterday we stopped near Red Square at the famous St. Basil’s Cathedral. I make it a point to visit there whenever I can. For me it is a place of pilgrimage because my spiritual master’s lotus feet graced those grounds on his one and only visit to Russia in 1971. It was from there that the samkirtan movement in Russia began and continues to this very day.

A traditional Vrajavasi bhajan – Quoted by Indradyumna Swami

A traditional Vrajavasi bhajan – Quoted by Indradyumna Swami

“Oh my beloved Giriraja! May I always reside near you and have your shelter. I will not even consider visiting the Vaikuntha planets if I am living near you. I will wander along your foothills and also within your forests, which are teeming with beautiful creepers and vines. Should I take birth again, let it be at Aniyor, Jatipur or near the banks of Radha Kunda. I beg you Giriraja! Kindly grant me birth again and again in the sacred land of Vrindavan. I have no other desire within my heart.”
